Professor
Lawrence C. Myers is a Professor of Medical Education and Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. He holds dual departmental affiliations in Medical Education and Biochemistry & Cell Biology. His research focuses on understanding gene regulatory mechanisms in fungal pathogens like Candida albicans, particularly how epigenetic processes control morphological switching and virulence. He leads projects investigating the Mediator complex's role in transcriptional regulation, with applications to antifungal drug resistance and pathogen virulence mechanisms. Education: PhD from Harvard University (1995), BA from Reed College (1990). He is affiliated with the Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program. His work combines biochemical, genetic, and genomic approaches to study fungal pathogenesis and transcriptional regulation. Key contributions include discoveries about the Mediator complex's interaction with chromatin and its role in regulating virulence traits in Candida species.
