Mathé Vivien is a Lecturer and Researcher at La Rochelle University, Department of Earth Sciences. As Director of the Department, their research focuses on the evolution of anthropized coastal areas over millennia through geophysical prospecting (electrical, electromagnetic, magnetic) and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Key projects include studying ancient ports of Narbonne and megalithic sites of Carnac. Research interests span coastal geomorphology, archaeological geophysics, wetland paleoenvironments, and human-environment interactions. Methodological innovations in non-invasive prospecting techniques characterize their work, applied to Neolithic enclosures, Roman ports, and estuary evolution. Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on Mediterranean and Atlantic coastal archaeology, with recurring themes of geophysical methodology validation, multi-proxy paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and spatial analysis of archaeological features. Collaborative international projects in Tunisia, Senegal, and Turkey highlight a transdisciplinary approach. Affiliations include leadership roles in ANR MONUMEN (Neolithic monumental architecture) and RAPSODIE (Celtic settlements) projects. Team collaborations involve ESTRAN research group and CNRS-INSU institute. No awards or student supervision details were documented.
