Assistant Professor
Özgür Öztürk serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering at Rafet Kayış Faculty of Engineering, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. His academic career includes prior Lecturer positions at Izmir Institute of Technology (2015-2018) and current faculty appointment since 2023. Education Doctorate in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet München (2018-2022) MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics (with thesis), Izmir Institute of Technology (2014-2017) BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Izmir Institute of Technology (2009-2014) Research Interests Dr. Öztürk's research integrates bioengineering and nanotechnology to develop advanced therapeutic platforms. His expertise spans nanotechnology-guided drugs, metal-organic frameworks for nanopharmaceuticals, biomacromolecule synthesis and targeting, artificial nucleic acids, and solid-phase synthesis techniques. This work focuses on creating precision drug delivery systems for challenging diseases like glioblastoma, with emphasis on receptor-targeted gene therapy and biomaterial design. Publication Trends His 2019-2023 publications reveal a cohesive research trajectory in nanocarrier development for biomedical applications. Key themes include peptide nucleic acid-based nanoparticles for gene delivery, transferrin receptor-targeted polyplexes for brain cancer therapy, and conductive nanofibers for tissue engineering. The work demonstrates consistent innovation in balancing nanocarrier stability with functional cargo release, while bridging molecular biology, materials science, and clinical translation through interdisciplinary collaboration.
