Sue Mendelsohn is a Senior Lecturer in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, where she directs the Writing Center and serves as Associate Director of First-Year Writing. She holds a Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research explores writing pedagogy , multimodal composing , visual rhetoric , and writing center theory . She has over a decade of writing consulting experience and develops strategies for effective academic communication. Publications address historical literacy practices , writing center administration , and rhetorical education , with emphasis on inclusivity and innovation. She teaches University Writing and rhetoric courses, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to written communication.
