Lorella Marina Gasparini is a Professor at ABABO's School of Design, specializing in Visual Communication Design. She teaches three key courses: Elements of Editorial Graphics for Comics and Illustration students, Visual Communication Design Methodology, and Performative Techniques for the Visual Arts for Fashion Design students. Her academic work bridges graphic design, fashion, and performance art, with a strong emphasis on practical application and theoretical foundations. Her research interests focus on the intersection of visual communication, editorial design, and performative practices. She examines how text, images, and color function in visual communication, the relationship between fashion and art through performance, and the role of graphic design in contemporary culture. Her work particularly emphasizes the historical context of design, including the Bauhaus movement and women's contributions to graphic design. She explores how clothing functions as a medium for environmental interaction and how performative gestures relate to space, territory, and mapping. Gasparini has an extensive exhibition history with solo shows from 2005-2023 across Italy, Japan, Finland, Germany, and the United States. Her notable works include 'Nuke Mars' (2023), 'Sewing the Empire' (2023), and 'Transiti' (2021). She has participated in international artist residencies in India, Germany, Belgium, Rajasthan, Japan, the United States, and Finland. 2022 'Sustainability and Art' Award, organized by Laguna Prize with Ca' Foscari University and NaturaSì Her teaching methodology combines theoretical lectures with practical workshops, emphasizing the development of personal branding, corporate identity, and editorial design skills. She utilizes Adobe InDesign in her courses and requires students to develop portfolios of progressively complex editorial projects.
