Dr Duygu Candarli is a Lecturer in TESOL at the University of Southampton, serving as the Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise and Impact Champion for the Department of Languages, Cultures & Linguistics. She holds a PhD in Language Education from the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on second language writing, writing assessment, corpus linguistics, and academic discourse, employing mixed-methods approaches including longitudinal studies and qualitative analysis. She has secured funding from institutions like the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme (€3.5M) and the British Academy. Dr Candarli holds editorial roles at Humanities & Social Sciences Communications and reviews for journals such as Applied Linguistics and International Journal of Corpus Linguistics . She currently supervises two PhD students in Applied Linguistics/ELT. Her work bridges academia and industry through interdisciplinary projects, including collaborations with non-academic partners in Europe. Education: PhD in Language Education (University of Manchester). Research expertise includes learner corpora, phraseology, and co-production of research with stakeholders. Active in professional roles like the BAAL LKALE Special Interest Group and UKRI Peer Review College.
