Associate Professor
Deirdre O'Connor is an Associate Professor in Resource Economics at University College Dublin (UCD) and currently serves as Vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at the College of Health and Agricultural Sciences. She holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and has held academic roles at UCD since 1993, including Assistant Professor (1996–2000) and Assistant Lecturer (1993–1996). Her research focuses on agricultural policy, food poverty, and social farming, with notable contributions to EU policy analysis and rural development. She has received awards such as the UCD Values in Action Award (2020) and has been a Visiting Professor at institutions like Senshu University (Japan) and the University of Pisa (Italy). Professional activities include leadership roles in the EU Cost Action 866 and the Healthy Food for All Initiative.
