Prof. Dr. Andrea Trabattoni is an Associate Professor in Ultrafast Photoelectron Science at the Institute of Quantum Optics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Leibniz University Hannover, Germany. Previously, they served as a Junior Professor at the same institution since 2022, and were a Helmholtz Young Investigator group leader at DESY Photon Science Division in Hamburg since 2021. Dr. Trabattoni's educational background includes: PhD cum laude in Experimental Physics from Polytechnic of Milan, Italy (2011-2014) Master's degree cum laude in Theoretical Physics from University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy (2006-2011) They also held an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship at the Center for Free Electron Laser Science (CFEL), DESY, Hamburg (2016-2018) and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Polytechnic of Milan, Italy (2015). Dr. Trabattoni's research focuses on the investigation of electron motion in matter, with particular interest in atoms, molecules, and interfaces. They employ ultrafast laser technology and develop pump-probe schemes to capture electron dynamics with extremely high temporal resolution, from femtosecond (10^-15 s) to attosecond (10^-18 s) time scales. A significant aspect of their work involves studying photo-induced electron dynamics in nuclear transitions. Their research sits at the intersection of quantum optics, ultrafast laser science, and molecular physics. Analysis of Dr. Trabattoni's recent publications reveals a strong focus on attosecond and femtosecond spectroscopy techniques applied to molecular systems. Their work spans several key areas including time-resolved NEXAFS spectroscopy, photoemission delay in plasmonic systems, UV-induced molecular dissociation, and chiral dynamics in excited molecules. The research often involves developing novel experimental setups and beamlines that combine different types of laser pulses for time-resolved measurements. Scientific recognition includes: Alexander von Humboldt fellowship Dr. Trabattoni leads the Ultrafast Laser Laboratory at Leibniz University Hannover and previously served as a Team leader in the Attosecond Science group of the DESY Photon Science Division. Their research involves collaborations with multiple institutions across Europe and focuses on developing cutting-edge techniques for observing ultrafast electron dynamics in various materials systems.
