Linda N. Dao, M.D. is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. She specializes in Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology with primary clinical focus at the Rochester, Minnesota campus. Her educational background includes: MD from Texas Tech University School of Medicine (2005) Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin (2001) Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mayo Clinic (2009) Fellowships in Hematopathology (2011) and Surgical Pathology (2010) Dr. Dao's research centers on amyloidosis characterization using advanced proteomic techniques, with significant contributions to mass spectrometry-based amyloid typing. Her work spans multi-organ amyloid deposition including salivary glands, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, and bone marrow. Current investigations focus on developing minimally invasive lymphoma detection methods through blood plasma biomarkers. Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals a dominant focus on amyloidosis subtyping through proteomics (68% of articles), with emerging work in molecular diagnostics for hematologic malignancies. Key methodological trends include large-scale validation studies (>16,000 samples) and clinicopathologic correlation frameworks. Professional recognition includes: American Board of Pathology certification in Hematopathology (2022) American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (2009) Dr. Dao actively contributes to academic leadership through committee service including Pathology Residency Clinical Competency Committee (2015-present), Pathology Residency Recruitment Committee (2011-2016), and Professional Development Sub-Committee (2013-2017).
