Adjunct Assistant Professor
Arthur Kiron is the Schottenstein-Jesselson Curator of Judaica Collections at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of History in Penn’s History Department. He oversees Judaic collections across the Penn Libraries system, supervises the Library at the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, and leads initiatives like the Jesselson-Kaplan American Genizah Project and the Scribes of the Cairo Genizah Project. His research focuses on Atlantic Jewish history , the history of the Jewish book , and Judaica Digital Humanities . He has published extensively on Sephardic communities, rabbinic humanism, and Victorian-era Jewish cultural practices, with a particular emphasis on Philadelphia’s Jewish history. Recent scientific recognition includes the Arline Custer Memorial Award for his 2014 edited work on Atlantic Jewish history. His work bridges archival scholarship and digital humanities to explore historical preservation.
