Senior Lecturer
Dr Jo Briggs is a Senior Lecturer in User Experience at the School of Digital Arts (SODA), Manchester Metropolitan University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on human-digital interaction, co-creative methodologies, and participatory design within Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). She holds a MSc in Multimedia Systems from Trinity College Dublin and a collaborative doctoral award from Ulster University, exploring digital cultural literacies in post-conflict Northern Ireland. Briggs has led over a dozen cross-disciplinary projects addressing online privacy, trust, and ethical design, with grants totaling over £1.8 million from EPSRC, ESRC, and AHRC. Her work bridges computer science, social sciences, and design, emphasizing user-centered approaches to mitigate online risks through creative methods like data narratives and persona-based tools. Recent projects include addressing cumulative data disclosures and Buy-Now-Pay-Later vulnerabilities.
