Lecturer
David Dornig is a Lecturer for Guitar & Ensemble at the Faculty of Music Education, JAM MUSIC LAB Private University, and the Friedrich Gulda School of Music since 2021. He holds a Master of Arts in Theory, Composition & Arrangement (2021) and state teaching qualifications in Composition Pedagogy (2017) and Instrumental/Vocal Pedagogy (2014), all with 'excellent success' from the Vienna Music Institute. His research focuses on multi-tone tuning systems, 31-tone equal temperament, and adaptive re-tuning, alongside developing polytonal instruments like clavitones and 31-tone guitars. He has performed internationally at festivals such as Moers-Festival, Jazzfestival Saalfelden, and miCROfest Zagreb, leading the ensemble Dsilton and collaborating with ensembles like the Janus Ensemble and Beethoven Pocket Orchestra. Awards include the 2011 JAZZON Austrian Award and Star.t 2007 talent competition victory. Collaborations span renowned artists such as Michael Mantler, Paul Gulda, and the ORF.
