Allyn Miner

Allyn Miner is a Part-time Lecturer in Sitar and Senior Lecturer Emerita with expertise in Classical Indian Music and textual studies. She teaches courses in sitar performance and explores intersections of music history, social history of dance, and medieval/early modern South Asian literature.

• Research focuses on historical development of North Indian instruments
• Active concert performer in solo and ensemble formats
• Specializes in Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu musicological texts

Her notable publications include the standard reference work Sitar and Sarod in the 18th and 19th Centuries and translations of 14th-century Gujarati music treatises. She performs with the Darbari ensemble and is working on a translation of Hazrat Inayat Khan's 1910 Urdu-language Minqar-I Musiqar.
