Professor Dave Collins is a Professorial Fellow in Human Performance Science at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport, within the Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences (ISPEHS). He also directs Grey Matters Performance Ltd. His expertise spans performer and coach development, expertise, human performance, and psychophysiology. With over 350 peer-reviewed publications and 70 authored/co-authored books/chapters, his work bridges academic research and applied practice in high-performance sport. Education: Cert Ed B.Ed MSc PG.Dip Counselling PhD Research Focus: Key interests include interdisciplinary management in performance support, talent development pathways, and applied sport psychology. His projects often involve collaboration with elite athletes, Olympic medallists, and professional sports teams. Awards & Affiliations: Fellow of the Society of Martial Arts (FSMA) Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (FBASES) Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS) Advising & Grants: Supervises 14 current PhD students across topics like talent development systems, sport psychology applications, and performance coaching. Past supervisees include Jamie Taylor (PhD 2020) and Rosie Collins (PhD 2021). Active in securing interdisciplinary grants for applied sport science programs. Labs & Teams: Leads the Human Performance Science Research Group and collaborates with the Rugby Coaches Association.
