Dr. Agustí Egea-Àlvarez is a Professor at the University of Strathclyde's Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a member of the PEDEC (Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Conversion) group. He also serves as Network Operational Performance Manager at ScottishPower Energy Networks. Education: BSc in Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Catalonia (2008) MSc in Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Catalonia (2010) PhD in Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Catalonia (2014) Research Interests: Grid forming and Virtual Synchronous Machine converter control algorithms Control of Voltage Source Converters in weak grids and low inertia systems Alternative HVDC connection schemes for offshore wind farms DC-DC converter control for HVDC systems His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy. Scientific Awards: Best Paper Prize at Wind Integration Workshop 2019 (2020) Strathclyde Medal as member of 'Sustainable Impact by Design' team (2023) Projects: He participates in 38 projects including SETTLE-INSIGHT (NIA) with Scottish and Southern Energy Plc and EPSRC-funded DTP 2224 project. His work focuses on grid stability, HVDC systems, and renewable integration.
