Associate Professor
Dr. Anette Regelous serves as Program Manager and Academic Assistant at GeoZentrum Nordbayern (Northern Bavaria GeoCenter), Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. She holds dual roles as Academic Advisor for B.Sc. and M.Sc. Geosciences programs and Head of the additional studies program "Geosciences for Teacher Training." Her institutional affiliation spans teaching, research coordination, and educational leadership within the Geosciences department. Her research spans Geoscience Education , Geochemistry , and Volcanism , with particular focus on Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary events, volcanic proxies in sedimentary records, and geochemical fingerprinting of mass extinction events. She integrates educational theory with geological research, developing multimedia tools for sustainability education as evidenced by her interactive e-book on water resources. Recent publications reveal a strong trend in using tellurium and mercury as volcanic proxies across multiple extinction events (Permian-Triassic, Cretaceous-Paleogene, PETM). Her work bridges sedimentology, paleoclimatology, and volcanology, with field sites spanning Germany, France, India, and Oman. Notable research includes investigations of the Deccan Traps, North Atlantic Igneous Province, and Siberian Trap connections to biotic crises. Third-party funding secured between 2015-2018 includes: "Resource Research Trip" from Robert Bosch Foundation (€5,000, 2017) Innovation Fund for Teaching at FAU (€10,000, 2017) GIS Online Course funding from QUIS (€6,100, 2018) "3 Treasures in Passau Region" from Bavarian Environment Ministry (€40,000, 2018) Geochemical investigations at Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary (€15,000, 2018) Her institutional service includes membership on the GeoZentrum Board, Examination Board, Study Funding Commission, and Raw Materials Advisory Board at KTB since 2018. She serves as Scientific Advisor for Geopark Ries and mentor for GeoZentrum at KTB's extracurricular learning programs since 2017. Teaching portfolio encompasses courses in geological didactics, mineralogy, chemical geodynamics, and regional geology across bachelor's and master's programs.
