Senior Lecturer
Dr. Yue Wang is a Senior Lecturer and RAEng Research Fellow at the University of York's School of Physics, Engineering and Technology. She leads research on nanostructured materials for photonic applications, focusing on 2D materials, organic semiconductors, and hybrid optoelectronics. Her group develops novel materials systems for light emission and sensing technologies. Wang holds an MSc from the University of St Andrews and Heriot-Watt University (2008) and a PhD from St Andrews (2012). Her research trajectory includes advanced work on multifunctional organic lasers and silicon photonics. Current projects explore layered materials for silicon photonics and biosensing applications. Wang's research spans: Light-emitting 2D materials and nanostructures Hybrid perovskite optoelectronics Nanoscale light-matter interactions Strain engineering in semiconductors Biosensing platforms Her publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to nanophotonics and materials science, with recent advances in laser technologies, sensing platforms, and quantum materials. Article trends emphasize nanofabrication techniques, light manipulation at subwavelength scales, and applications in medical diagnostics. Honors include: Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship (5-year award) EPSRC Doctoral Prize Wang supervises PhD students in condensed matter physics and photonics, including work on strain effects in transition metal dichalcogenides. She leads the Equality Committee and organizes seminars for the Condensed Matter Group.
