Darryl P. Butt is a Professor and Dean of the College of Mines and Earth Sciences at the University of Utah, with appointments in Metallurgical Engineering. He holds a PhD in Materials Science from Penn State University (1991) and previously served as Distinguished Professor and Department Chair at Boise State University. His career includes roles at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Ceramatec Inc., and the University of Florida. Research focuses on materials for extreme environments, including nuclear fuels, corrosion-resistant alloys, nanoporous materials, and thermoelectrics.
