Associate Professor
Dr Sarah Seymour-Smith is an Associate Professor of Discourse & Masculinities in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), where she leads qualitative research and teaching in psychology. With a focus on masculinity and health, her work spans prostate cancer disparities in African-Caribbean communities, support group dynamics, and online sex offenses. School of Social Sciences, NTU PhD from The Open University (supervised by Professors Margaret Wetherell and Ann Phoenix) Her research examines how gendered identities influence health outcomes, including co-developing the prostate cancer app Check tings out . Recent publications address hoarding behavior, digital interventions, and sexual consent discourse. She supervises 4 ongoing doctoral candidates and has mentored 11 to completion. Scientific awards include the 2022 BPS Psychology of Women & Equalities Section’s Professor Marcia Worrell Mentoring Award and the 2017 BPS QMiP mid-career citation. She serves as Associate Editor for Psychology of Men and Masculinities and is a committee member of multiple academic groups.
