Professor Liam Blunt is Professor of Engineering and Director of the Centre for Precision Technologies at the University of Huddersfield's School of Computing and Engineering. He holds an honors degree in Materials Technology and a PhD in 'The Metallurgy of Centreless Ground surfaces' from Coventry University.
His research expertise encompasses surface metrology, nanomaterials, thin films, precision abrasive processes, forensic metrology for ballistics, and roll-to-roll manufacturing. Recent publications focus on surface analysis technologies, additive manufacturing quality control, and precision measurement techniques.
Professor Blunt leads multiple research projects including the Future Advanced Metrology Hub and has held the prestigious Taylor Hobson Chair of Surface Metrology.
He teaches Naval Architecture, Finite Element Analysis, and Advanced Materials, and leads the BEng/MEng Mechanical/Marine programmes.
