Dr. Haydn Martin is a Reader in the Department of Engineering at the University of Huddersfield's School of Computing and Engineering, and co-investigator for the EPSRC Future Metrology Hub. His research focuses on developing novel optical sensing techniques for high-precision manufacturing platforms, particularly on-line and in-process metrology solutions. Martin aims to migrate metrology from conventional off-line instrumentation to facilitate flexible and distributed manufacturing.
His core research examines applied optics and manufacturing metrology, with emphasis on integrated surface/dimensional measurement for next-generation engineered products. Key interests include optical interferometry, surface metrology, and the development of compact optical sensors for industrial applications. Research contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to industrial innovation and responsible production.
Martin maintains active collaborations through the Centre for Precision Technologies and leads projects such as the Future Advanced Metrology Hub.
