Matthew Hitchcock is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Writing Program at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities. His research centers on family archives and lived experiences, exemplified in his dissertation 'Commemorative Objects: Tracing Memory, Meaning Making, and Uptakes through Family Photographs.' Hitchcock employs rhetorical genre studies to help students analyze writing contexts and utilizes family archives as teaching tools. He teaches courses including Advanced Writing in the Business Professions and First-Year Writing, where he emphasizes genre analysis, audience evaluation, and peer review processes. Hitchcock holds a PhD in English (Writing and Rhetoric) from Northeastern University, an MA from University of Massachusetts Boston, and a BA from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
