Selami Varol ÜLKER is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Neuromarketing Department at Uskudar University's College of Social Sciences and Business (SOBE). He holds a PhD in Psychology from Uskudar University (2021), following a Master's degree from Nişantaşı University (2017) and a BSc in Political Science from Yeditepe University (2011). His research focuses on experimental psychology, psychophysiology, and adult attachment, with notable work in neuromarketing and consumer neuroscience. He has supervised 15+ graduate theses on topics like virtual reality's impact on consumer behavior, psychophysiological effects of media content, and attachment theory applications. His academic roles include Deputy Director of SOBE, Head of the Neuromarketing Department, and member of multiple institutional committees. Research highlights include studies on cognitive behavioral therapy efficacy, virtual reality in retail, and climate change anxiety's influence on consumer choices. He actively participates in international conferences and has authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Current projects explore empathy-driven design in neuromarketing and EEG applications in understanding consumer behavior. Notable contributions include co-editing In-silico Applications in EEG (CRC Press, 2024) and publishing in journals like International Journal of Human–Computer Interaction and Sustainability and Climate Change . His work bridges psychology with emerging technologies, emphasizing ethical considerations in AI-driven mental health tools and neuromarketing strategies.
