Lew Robert

Robert Lew is a Full Professor at the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, where he has held academic positions since 1991. His career includes roles such as University Professor (2006–2019), Reader (1996–2006), and visiting appointments at Eastern Michigan University and other institutions. His research focuses on lexicography, corpus linguistics, and user studies in dictionary use. Lew has led major projects including the National Science Centre grant on online dictionary user research (2014–2017) and contributed to international initiatives like ELEXIS (Horizon 2020) and the KELLY Project.

He has delivered over 50 conference presentations globally, including invited plenaries at venues such as the International Symposium in Lexicography (Aarhus) and the Asialex conferences. Lew has served on 26 international conference committees, examined 8 PhD theses, and reviewed for top journals like Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching. His awards include the AMU Rector’s research merit awards (2013–2016) and the Minister of National Education’s Award for Research Excellence (1997).

Lew’s research integrates quantitative methods (e.g., eye-tracking studies) with lexicographical theory, emphasizing user-centric design for bilingual and learner dictionaries. His work bridges traditional and digital lexicon development, addressing challenges in multilingual vocabulary acquisition and digital tool effectiveness.
