Associate Professor
Stefano Tomassi is an Associate Professor at Link Campus University in Rome. He earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II in 2014, following a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (2009). His career spans postdoctoral work at TU Dortmund (2014-2015), research roles at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, and a tenure-track position at the University of Naples Federico II (2019-2022). In 2022, he became a Visiting Academic at the Target Discovery Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Naples Federico II (2014) Bachelor's in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, University of Rome "La Sapienza" (2009) Stefano's research focuses on leveraging organic chemistry to synthesize chemical probes, including small organic compounds, peptidomimetics, and small peptides, for modulating molecular targets implicated in diseases. His work emphasizes Structure-Based Drug Design and Fragment-Based Drug Design, particularly targeting transmembrane receptors, epigenetic/epitranscriptomic systems, and unexplored E3 ubiquitin ligases. He has contributed to positron emission tomography (PET) imaging through peptide-based diagnostic tools. Postdoctoral Fellowship at TU Dortmund Stefano has taught courses on the quality control of innovative drugs and actively explores novel synthetic methodologies and peptide macrocyclization strategies. His research bridges chemical synthesis with biological evaluation, focusing on overcoming drug resistance in cancers like NSCLC and targeting extracellular receptors for therapeutic development.
