Teaching Professor
Glen Miller is an Instructional Professor of Philosophy at Texas A&M University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on ethics of technology, engineering ethics, and artificial intelligence ethics, with a particular emphasis on education and societal impact. He co-edited volumes on philosophy and technology and serves as an associate editor for Science and Engineering Ethics and an executive editor for Philosophy & Technology . His NSF-funded projects include studies on engineering ethics education and AI ethics interventions in U.S. colleges. He has received prestigious teaching awards, including the 2023 College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Excellence Award. Education: PhD in Philosophy from the University of North Texas (2015). Research interests span engineering ethics, cyberethics, and the ethics of AI, with a focus on curriculum development and ethical interventions in education. His work bridges philosophy, technology, and environmental ethics, exploring how technology shapes social and ecological environments. His articles address topics like engineering ethics education in high schools, ethical self-efficacy in engineering students, and cross-cultural perspectives on engineering identity. He has also contributed to debates on Heidegger’s philosophy of technology and Eastern philosophical approaches to engineering. Awards include the Presidential Transformational Teaching Grant and grants to revamp Engineering Ethics courses. He advises undergraduate research in ethics and technology, teaching courses such as Ethics & Engineering and Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
