Dr. Ajit Godbole is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on mechanical engineering, materials science, environmental engineering, and mining ventilation systems. He has supervised three completed PhD candidates and contributes to interdisciplinary projects involving computational fluid dynamics (CFD), hydrogen energy systems, and nanomaterials. His work addresses challenges in underground mine ventilation, diesel particulate matter (DPM) dispersion, and material deformation mechanisms. Key research areas include optimizing ventilation systems to reduce air recirculation in mines, modeling hydrogen-natural gas mixtures in pipelines, and studying hydrogen effects on material behavior. He has collaborated on projects funded by internal grants, such as the Micro Particle Image Velocimetry system. His publications span journals like Computational Materials Science , International Journal of Hydrogen Energy , and Renewable Energy . Dr. Godbole’s expertise also extends to crystal plasticity modeling, nanolayered composites, and high-pressure pipeline safety. He actively participates in conferences and contributes to safety engineering through experimental and numerical studies. Ongoing work includes investigations into future fuels infrastructure and low-carbon energy systems.
