About
Rajan Kumar is Chair and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Florida A&M University-Florida State University, leading the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP). His expertise spans experimental aerodynamics, supersonic/hypersonic flows, and advanced flow diagnostics. He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (2005), with earlier degrees from the same institute and Punjab University.
Research focuses on high-speed flow phenomena, including jet impingement dynamics, shock-boundary layer interactions, and active flow control. The FCAAP under his direction supports cutting-edge propulsion research with state-of-the-art facilities. Collaborative work includes projects on rocket nozzles, vortex asymmetry, and thermal management in high-temperature flows.
Publications span experimental and computational studies, covering topics from medical oncology to cosmological modeling, though most center on aerospace engineering. His work addresses practical challenges in propulsion efficiency, noise reduction, and fluid dynamics under extreme conditions.
