Dr. Katerina Psarikidou is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Development at the University of Sussex Business School and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her work bridges the politics of science, research, and innovation with sustainable development, focusing on alternative agro-food networks, low-carbon mobility, and biodiversity conservation. She plays a pivotal role as co-investigator in a £6M UKRI project on co-producing healthy food systems for disadvantaged communities and leads the University of Sussex's initiative on innovative teaching practices. PhD in Sociology, Lancaster University MA in Bioethics, University of Crete BA in History and Archaeology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Her research explores the intersection of sustainable development and social innovation, emphasizing participatory processes with third-sector stakeholders. Recent projects include analyzing food relocalization, the role of digital technologies in food security, and mobilities research for low-carbon cities. She is committed to inclusive research methodologies and knowledge exchange with marginalized communities. Her publications span the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society , the International Journal for the Sociology of Agriculture and Food , and Palgrave Macmillan. She contributes to editorial roles as Associate Editor for the International Journal for the Sociology of Agriculture and Food and participates in the Executive Committee of AsSIST UK. Fellow of the Higher Education Academy She supervises PhD students in SPRU and Lancaster University and has co-designed modules on sustainable development, science policy, and energy transitions. Her teaching philosophy integrates innovative pedagogies and student engagement for inclusive curriculum design.
