Quentin Stafford-Fraser is a part-time Senior Research Associate (now a Visitor) at the University of Cambridge's Department of Computer Science and Technology, part of the Research Strategy Team. He previously contributed to the Endeavour project (Graphics & Interaction group) and the Pico project (Security group). His work spans computer vision, automotive user interfaces, and cybersecurity. He holds a Ph.D. in Augmented Reality from the University of Cambridge, sponsored by Xerox EuroPARC. Research interests include driver behavior analysis, password replacement systems, and human-centered computing. He co-founded DisplayLink, Camvine, and Ndiyo, and currently leads Telemarq, a tech consultancy. His notable contributions include pioneering webcam technology (the Trojan Room Coffee Pot) and over 50 patents, many owned by Google. Key projects include enhancing driving simulators with realistic traffic models and developing context-aware in-car notification systems. He has collaborated with industry through roles at Digital Catapult and AT&T Labs. His academic work bridges theoretical research with practical applications in security, automotive tech, and user interaction design.
