Dr. Daniel Höhmann is a Research Fellow in the Department of Political Science at the University of Basel, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He joined the institute as a postdoctoral researcher in May 2020 under Prof. Denise Traber. His primary research focuses on comparative political science, emphasizing political representation, legislative studies, gender and politics, and coalition governance mechanisms within parliamentary systems. His work explores topics such as MPs' attitudes toward gender equality, the role of personality traits in political behavior, and the dynamics of coalition agreements in European governance. Notable contributions include analyses of male politicians' responsiveness to women's interests and the intersection of electoral vulnerability with substantive representation. Recent publications reflect a focus on gender equality representation, parliamentary accountability, and coalition control mechanisms.
