Dr. Stavros Karamperidis is a Lecturer in Maritime Economics and Head of the Maritime Transport Research Group at the University of Plymouth's Plymouth Business School (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business). He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University and has industry experience in shipping and logistics. His research focuses on sustainability in maritime transport, ESG reporting, port management, and cybersecurity in shipping. Teaching responsibilities include programme management for MSc programs in International Logistics and Shipping, as well as course leadership in Research Skills and Economics, Port Policy and Management, and Maritime Geography and Economics. He actively contributes to both postgraduate and undergraduate teaching across multiple modules. Research interests emphasize sustainable maritime practices, including decarbonization strategies, circular economy applications, and regulatory frameworks for autonomous shipping. His work explores ESG reporting standards, cybersecurity challenges, and the role of ports in supporting green operations. Recent studies include case analyses of the Port of Plymouth and South Korean liner shipping sustainability drivers. Dr. Karamperidis' publications (2021–2025) address topics from LNG carrier congestion impacts to policy implications of Arctic shipping routes, reflecting a holistic approach to maritime economics and environmental stewardship.
