Dr. Adi D. Dubash is an Associate Professor of Biology and Sciences Division Representative on the Faculty Council at Furman University. His research focuses on desmosome adhesion complexes, exploring their roles in tissue structure and disease mechanisms such as cancer and heart disease. He leads the Dubash Lab, which uses cell culture models of skin, breast cancer, and cardiac cells to study desmosomal proteins' functions through techniques like fluorescence microscopy and western blotting. Dr. Dubash holds a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from The University of Texas at Austin, a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University. His work has been recognized with the Journal of Cell Science 's Best Paper of the Year Award for his first-author publication. He is deeply committed to undergraduate research training, mentoring students in cutting-edge experiments and co-authoring multiple publications. His students present findings at international conferences like the ASCB/EMBO meetings. The Dubash Lab fosters a collaborative environment, emphasizing the scientific method and hands-on research experience.
