Professor
Dr. Josée Hébert is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal and holder of the Industrial-Alliance Chair in Leukemia Research . She leads the Quebec Leukemia Cell Bank (BCLQ) , a provincial infrastructure since 2003, and is affiliated with the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center (CRHMR) and the Immunology and Cancer Research Institute (IRIC) . As a hematologist at HMR, she integrates clinical care with research in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Her research focuses on precision medicine in AML , including genomic sequencing of 700+ Quebec samples to identify prognostic markers and therapeutic targets. The Leucegene group , a multidisciplinary team, employs transcriptomics, proteomics, and chemogenomics to stratify AML subtypes. Key projects include high-throughput drug screening and surfaceome analysis for targeted therapies. Awards: 2017 Génome Canada Prize for precision genomics research (with Guy Sauvageau). Dr. Hébert has secured major grants from Génome Canada, Terry Fox Research Institute, and Cole Foundation . She supervises graduate students and collaborates on translational projects like engineered hematopoietic stem cell therapies and biomarker-driven treatment strategies. Her lab integrates clinical data with molecular profiling to improve risk-adapted therapies, emphasizing collaboration across institutions like McGill University and Université Laval.
