He has made significant contributions to understanding Danmu (Chinese captioning), subtitle speed effects, and quality assessment in interlingual subtitling. His publication record shows a clear trajectory toward experimental methodologies in translation studies, with recent works increasingly incorporating eye-tracking data and mixed-methods approaches. The research spans theoretical foundations, empirical investigations, and practical pedagogical applications in audiovisual translation. Associate Fellowship, Higher Education Academy (2022-present) Huihuang actively supervises MA/MSc dissertation research at UCL's Centre for Translation Studies, having guided 18 students to successful completion. His teaching encompasses subtitling, dubbing, audio description, and translation technologies across multiple institutions including UCL, University of Roehampton, Communication University of China, and Huazhong Agricultural University. He serves as Production Editor for the Journal of Audiovisual Translation and works as an audiovisual translator and proofreader for cinema releases.
