Dr. Kevan Jacobson is a Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Southern Utah University (SUU), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, he served over 30 years as a lawyer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, leading major legal operations and mentoring future leaders. He joined SUU in 2015 after retirement, teaching courses in criminal law, evidence, terrorism, and American government. His teaching emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, using examples from history, science, and more. Education: Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Utah State University Juris Doctor, Brigham Young University LL.M. in Law, The Judge Advocate General’s School Master of Strategic Studies, U.S. Army War College Research Interests: Jacobson focuses on criminal justice systems, legal procedures, counterterrorism strategies, and the intersection of military law and governance. His passion for historical analysis informs his teaching and research, particularly in military history and strategic studies.
