Associate Professor
Francesca Bianchi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanistic Studies at the University of Salento, Italy. She holds a degree in Translation from the University of Trieste (1995) and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Lancaster University (2012). Her professional background includes freelance translation in ICT (1994–2003) and teaching English Language and Translation at the Universities of Genoa and Pavia (1998–2004). Since 2005, she has been affiliated with the University of Salento, where she teaches English linguistics, translation, audiovisual translation (AVT), and interpreting. Her research focuses on corpus linguistics, audiovisual translation, genre analysis, and technology-enhanced language learning. She has published over 60 works, including a monograph ( Culture, Corpora, and Semantics ) and edited volumes. She co-founded and co-coordinates the Unisalento Summer School of Audiovisual Translation (since 2013) and collaborates with the L3S Research Institute in Hannover on a web platform for translation/interpreting education. Bianchi served as a visiting professor at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (Latvia, 2019–2021), teaching AVT and corpus linguistics. She coordinates national and international projects, including the PRIN-funded Informalisation of English Learning through Media (2022–2025) and the Erasmus+ IBTIKAR project (2021–2024). She is also on the editorial board of Lingue e Linguaggi .
