Professor Song Wang is a distinguished academic at Curtin University, holding the position of Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing, and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS) and Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He previously served as Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Curtin (2014–2019). His career spans academia and industry, including roles as a Senior Software Engineer and Technical Director in Ireland, and faculty positions at the University of New South Wales, University of Western Australia (UWA), and others. Education: Dr. Wang earned a 4-year BSc in Applied Mathematics from Wuhan University and a PhD in Numerical Analysis from Trinity College, University of Dublin. His research focuses on computational and applied mathematics, particularly numerical solutions for optimal control, PDEs, and financial engineering. He has pioneered methods like the power penalty approach for option pricing and finite volume techniques for singularly perturbed equations. Research interests include numerical methods for optimal control, computational finance (e.g., Black-Scholes equations), and scientific computation. His work has been published in journals like Applied Mathematics and Computation and Journal of Computational Physics . He has supervised numerous PhD candidates and serves on editorial boards for journals such as Journal of Inequalities and Applications and Advances in Difference Equations . Publications (2025–2015) highlight advancements in fractional optimal control, option pricing models, and robust portfolio optimization. His contributions address real-world applications in finance, engineering, and traffic systems. Collaborations span institutions globally, including Germany, China, and Taiwan.
