Associate Professor
Christiane Steckenbiller is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian Studies department at Colorado College. Her research focuses on 20th/21st-century German literature, transnationalism, migration discourses, postcolonial studies, and cultural geography. She explores how migrants and refugees assert spatial claims and construct identity through environment. Her work extends to broader diaspora concepts and Mediterranean migration contexts. Teaching includes German language/culture courses and cross-listed programs in Comparative Literature, Race/Ethnicity/Migration Studies, and Environmental Studies.
