David W. Miller is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, holding roles in the Department of Internal Medicine (School of Medicine) and Department of Nuclear, Plasma & Radiological Engineering (College of Engineering). He has served as Adjunct Faculty since 1993 and 1997 respectively. His education includes a PhD and MS in Bionucleonics from Purdue University (1976 and 1973). Miller has held key positions such as Regional Director of the IAEA's Information System on Occupational Exposure (since 1995) and Director of Plant Radiation Protection at the Clinton Power Station (1988–2001). Research interests span radiological safety, nuclear power plant operations, and database systems for dose analysis. His work includes studies on occupational dose reduction, tritium recapture modeling, and effluent databases for UNSCEAR reports. Notable awards include the EPA’s Chernobyl Response Award (1986) and a Public Health Service Fellowship (1972–76). Miller’s recent publications focus on reproductive biology, particularly sperm-oviduct interactions and glycobiology. These studies explore mechanisms like glycan-mediated sperm binding, progesterone’s role in sperm release, and fertility-related biotechnology. His work bridges nuclear safety and reproductive science, reflecting interdisciplinary contributions.
