Dr Katrina Mirabito Colafella is a NHMRC CJ Martin Fellow and Future Leader at the Cardiovascular Disease Program , Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute , Monash University . She completed her PhD in 2015 under Professor Kate Denton and held postdoctoral fellowships at Erasmus Medical Centre, The Netherlands, and Monash University. Research Interests Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease Renin-Angiotensin System Sex-Specific Risk Factors (Pregnancy, Menopause) Cardio-Oncology Vascular Biology and Kidney Function Article Trends (2025-2021): Recent publications emphasize sex differences in hypertension, dietary interventions for blood pressure regulation, and cardiovascular toxicity of cancer therapies. Collaborative work spans renin-angiotensin system modulation, microbiome-cardiovascular interactions, and RNA-based therapeutics. Scientific Awards American Journal of Physiology: Renal Physiology Paper of the Year 2014 Best Early Career Oral Prize 2017 CJ Martin Biomedical Fellowship 2015 Stephanie Watts Career Development Award Finalist 2018 Grants & Collaborations : Lead Principal Investigator for projects like "Sex-differences in cellular aging" and "MediBeacon Transdermal Mini Fluorophore Monitors" , with collaborations across Australia, Netherlands, and international institutions.
