Professor
Stéphanie Lacour is a Full Professor at the School of Engineering (EPFL), holding the Foundation Bertarelli Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology . Her research focuses on bioelectronic devices that integrate soft substrates (elastomers, hydrogels) to match biological tissue mechanics, enabling chronic implants and ultra-compliant wearable systems . She leads the Neuro X Institute at EPFL's Campus Biotech in Geneva and serves as Vice-President for Support to Strategic Initiatives since 2025. Her lab develops soft neural interfaces using MEMS fabrication and microelectronics , with applications in auditory restoration , spinal cord stimulation , and peripheral nerve interfaces . Key methodologies include reactive exercises , closed-loop neuromodulation , and biomaterials for chronic implant stability. Scientific Awards : Foundation Bertarelli Chair in Neuroprosthetic Technology Her work spans implantable medical devices , stretchable sensors , and neuroprosthetic systems , with collaborations in neuroscience , materials engineering , and clinical translation .
