Assistant Professor
Illia Pasichnichenko is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Sussex Business School, Department of Economics. He joined the University of Sussex as a faculty member in 2024 after holding postdoctoral positions at Queen Mary University of London (2022-2024), University of Bristol (2021-2022), and Heidelberg University (2018-2020). His educational background includes a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Ukraine (2012-2016). Dr. Pasichnichenko's research focuses on theoretical and experimental approaches to understanding economic decision-making. His work bridges mathematical rigor with empirical validation in economic theory, particularly examining how individuals process information and make decisions under various forms of uncertainty. His research methodology combines sophisticated mathematical modeling with experimental validation to test theoretical predictions. His publication record shows a consistent progression of work in microeconomic theory, with recent publications focusing on information economics and ambiguity aversion, building on earlier foundational work in nonstochastic risk modeling and decision theory. The research spans from highly mathematical approaches to experimental testing of economic theories, demonstrating both theoretical depth and empirical relevance. His notable achievements include: Awarded the 2021 Jaffray lecture at RUD Recipient of the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers Dr. Pasichnichenko has received significant research funding including the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers at Heidelberg University (2018-2020) and has maintained an active research program with multiple ongoing projects. His current research agenda includes work on identifying behavioral types and analyzing partial information value with prominent collaborators.
