Assistant Professor
Dr. Hashim Mohamed is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada (Jan. 2022–Present). He previously held the same position at Thompson Rivers University (Aug. 2019–Dec. 2021). He directs the Robotics, Navigation, and Control Systems Laboratory (RNCSL) and is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and a Senior Member of IEEE. Education : Ph.D. in Robotics and Control, Western University (UWO) M.Sc. in Systems and Control Engineering, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) B.Sc. in Mechatronics, Helwan University Research Interests : Focuses on advancing technologies for perception, navigation, control, and trajectory planning in autonomous systems. Key areas include vision-aided inertial navigation for UAVs/drones, sensor fusion, multi-agent control systems, and optimization algorithms. Integrates artificial intelligence (supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning) into robotics applications. Awards/Honors : Senior Member, IEEE Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) – Ontario, Canada Labs/Teams : Founder and Director of the Robotics, Navigation, and Control Systems Laboratory (RNCSL) at Carleton University.
