Chris Hagen is a Professor of Energy Systems Engineering and Nesbitt Faculty Scholar in Energy Engineering at Oregon State University's College of Engineering (OSU-Cascades campus in Bend, OR). He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2006) and has held roles such as Assistant Research Professor at Colorado State University (2010-12) and Lead Fuels Research Engineer at Chevron Energy Technology Co. (2006-10). His research focuses on energy conversion systems, novel fuels, and sensor development for harsh environments. He leads the OSU Energy Systems Laboratory and is part of the Thermal-Fluid Sciences research group. Dr. Hagen’s expertise includes combustion engineering, unconventional fuels (e.g., biomass, shale gas), and applied thermodynamics. He has contributed to projects like the AFRL-funded ‘Diverse Collegiate Research & Development Collaboration’ and promotes equity in academic searches through OSU Search Advocate Training (completed May 2019). His professional affiliations include the Combustion Institute and former roles in ASME, IEEE, and SAE.
