About
Zosha Di Castri is the Francis Goelet Associate Professor of Music Composition at Columbia University. A Canadian composer, pianist, and sound artist, her work extends beyond concert music to include electronic, installation, and collaborative projects with video and dance. She joined Columbia's faculty in 2014 following an international career featuring performances by major orchestras including the BBC Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, and Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Her compositions explore structural organization, timbral vocabulary, and text setting through a searching artistry that maps explorations of human experience onto musical parameters. Notable works include 'Long Is the Journey, Short Is the Memory' for the BBC Proms and the evening-length music theatre piece 'Phonobellow'.
