Dr. Zi Qian is a Lecturer in Mechanical and Architectural Engineering at Northumbria University since September 2018. She holds a PhD in Subway Climatology from Newcastle University (2017), with prior roles as a Research Assistant and Associate on EPSRC-funded projects at Newcastle's School of Architecture and School of Engineering.
Her research focuses on Subway Climatology, Air Quality, Sustainable Building Design, Low Carbon Technology, and Numerical Modelling. Notable achievements include the Best Academic Research Award (Rail Category) at the 2016 European Transport Conference and two Second Prizes in UK engineering competitions (2015).
Dr. Qian supervises PhD student Leila Pasandi on climate change impacts on urban buildings. Her work bridges environmental science and engineering, addressing challenges in energy efficiency, microclimate adaptation, and disaster resilience in built environments.
