Zhenhua Yu

Zhenhua Yu is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Computer Science at the School of Natural and Computing Sciences, University of Aberdeen, UK. He also holds an honorary Lecturer position in Medical Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College London, recognizing his valuable contributions.

His research focuses on developing soft, wearable, and implantable bioelectronic sensors, e-skins, and soft robotics. He is advancing neuromorphic computation bioelectronic systems for robotic AI-enabled healthcare and embedded AI for robotics perception and navigation in human-centric digital healthcare environments.

Zhenhua Yu received his PhD in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence from the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London in 2023, where he worked in the Morph Lab with Prof. Thrishantha Nanayakkara and Prof. Peter Childs FREng. He then served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, working with Prof. Ravi Vaidyanathan in the Biomechatronics Lab.

He is currently accepting PhD students, including funded positions such as a University of Aberdeen CSC PhD for Chinese students, and offers visiting research studentships with bench fee funding.

Zhenhua Yu advises PhD students and is actively involved in grant-funded research aimed at prototyping intelligent robotics and wearable systems for healthcare applications, education, and commercialization. His lab supports visiting research students and collaborates across institutions.

He maintains affiliations with both the University of Aberdeen and Imperial College London, contributing to interdisciplinary research in bioelectronics and AI-driven robotics for healthcare innovation.
