About
Professor ZHAO Ning is a faculty member at East China Normal University's School of Marine Sciences and State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research. He holds a PhD from the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography (2017) and a BS from Nanjing University (2011). His prior positions include postdoctoral roles at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
His research encompasses:
- Paleo-ocean circulation dynamics
- Marine isotope geochemistry and sediment chronology
- Impacts of anthropogenic activity on ocean systems
- Deglacial climate transitions and ice sheet interactions
- Rifted margin evolution and oceanic crust formation
Recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on reconstructing past ocean conditions using isotopic tracers, analyzing modern eutrophication impacts, and developing paleoclimate data standards. His work frequently appears in high-impact journals including Nature Communications and PNAS.
Scientific Awards:
- Zi-jiang Outstanding Young Scholar (2020)
- Arctic Service Medal (2013)
- PAGES Travel Award (2018)
- National Scholarship of China (2008)
- Outstanding Graduate of Nanjing University (2011)
He leads research at the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research, focusing on coastal geochemical processes and climate interactions.
