Yvette Holt

Yvette Holt is a Lecturer in the Law Department at the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, Southern Cross University, where she has served since 2006. She holds a BA (Hons)/LLB (Hons) from the University of Sydney (1997) and an LLM (Hons) from the University of Cambridge (1998). In addition to her academic role, she practices criminal law part-time in the Northern Rivers region, NSW.

Her teaching portfolio includes Criminal Law, Criminal Process, Human Rights, Mooting, International Law, Contract Law, Statutory Interpretation, and Competition Law. She also oversees the Jessup Moot unit.

Research interests focus on human rights, environmental law, criminal law reform, and youth justice. While primarily a Teaching Scholar, her work intersects with legal practice and advocacy. Previously, she worked at Allens law firm in Sydney's Litigation department, served as a legal research officer for the NSW Law Reform Commission (contributing to the Anti-Discrimination Act review), and acted as a Federal Court Judge's Associate. She has extensive volunteer experience with Sydney-based legal NGOs, including PIAC, PILCH, RACS, and Redfern Legal Centre.
